Currie strike cup final gold

Man of the match Robbie
Nairn and captain Scott McGinley both ran in two tries as Currie’s under-16s won the National Youth League Cup
final at Murrayfield last night.

The Scotland under-16 duo were by far the best two players on the pitch as the Edinburgh side defeated Hawick Albion 37-12.

The men from Malleny Park started strongly and took the lead after just five minutes.

It was skipper McGinley who led by example, the No.8 bursting up the wing to touch down in the corner.

Ten minutes later they went further ahead when right winger Tom Hall popped it up to stand-off Blair Kinghorn who scored.

Five minutes later Hall did get himself on the scoresheet after another good run up the wing.

Fellow winger Nairn was then sin-binned and by the break Hawick had fought back to 18-5 down, a penalty by Kinghorn being Currie’s other points.

Nairn made up for his yellow card with a great solo try early in the second half and, with Hawick grabbing one of their own the score was 25-12 heading into the last 15 minutes.

Late scores from Nairn and McGinley made things safe for Currie though.
