Currie can't be complacent – Donaldson

TABLE-TOPPING Currie's coach, Ally Donaldson, has issued a warning against complacency going into a clash with basement boys Stewart's-Melville at Inverleith tomorrow in the Scottish Hydro rugby premiership.

Naming the same squad which accounted for Watsonians last week – apart from the inclusion of Glasgow pro Scott Forrest on the bench – Donaldson said: "There is no doubt that Stewart's-Melville have improved considerably and have had some very unlucky reversals."

Despite such caution, Currie will start strong favourites with full back Johnny Smith having an outside chance of garnering the 18 points required to reach 200 before the Christmas break.

Enhancing the visitors chances are injury problems for Stew-Mel, who are also keen to stamp out the yellow cards which have hampered their bid to climb off the foot of the table.

Ross Grant and Euan Clark come in at half back, while Sam Blackwood is chosen at hooker.

Club spokesman Gordon Rigby said: "The team put in a great effort against Melrose, however, a yellow card at a crucial time left us with an uphill climb."

Referring to the previous clash between the teams, which Currie won 48-17, Rigby added: "The team already know to their cost against Currie what yellow cards can do and discipline is key this week, as will taking any opportunities which come our way."

At Raeburn Place, a one-change Edinburgh Accies await Heriot's with coach Ian Barnes promising a backlash from a heavy defeat at champions Ayr.

Introduced is scrum half David Duffus after a knee injury, while Scotland under 20 cap Paul Loudon is back from Durham University and sits on the banch.

Barnes said: "We expected to do better at Ayr and are looking to make amends."

In a match which will see the winners hoist themselves into the top half of the table Heriot's scrum half and captain Graham Wilson will look to kick on after recently notching his 200th conversion.
