Currie and Ayr kept apart in cup

THE leaders of the top Premier and National leagues were kept apart in the draw for the Scottish Hydro Premier Cup and National Shield semi-finals.

Premier 1 pacesetters Currie, will travel to the Greenyards to play Melrose while Ayr, second in the league with two games in hand and unbeaten at home in domestic competition this season, will host cup holders Heriot's at Millbrae.

Similarly in the National Shield, Division 1 leaders Dalziel and Whitecraigs remain on course to meet in the final after drawing opposition from the league below in the process. But both face tricky ties on the road with Dalziel travelling to Fort Matilda to face National Division 2 champions Greenock Wanderers and Whitecraigs heading east to play Lasswade.

The clubs will battle it out this Saturday for a place in the final at Murrayfield on 24 April.
