Currie 25 - 11 Edinburgh Accies: Currie simply too strong for plucky Accies

CURRIE remain on course for a league and cup double after beating Edinburgh Accies in a cracking Scottish Hydro Cup tie last night.

Accies broke the deadlock with a penalty by David O'Hagen. That sparked the hosts into life and they responded with lock Ryan Wilson grabbing a try.

Johnny Smith missed the conversion but added the extras after fleet-footed winger Willie Moala sprinted in for try No 2 and again when Alan Whittingham touched down for the third.

Currie repelled a series of drives just before the break but could not prevent Jamie Sole squeezing in at the corner.

The home side moved the score on to 22-8 with a penalty from Smith early in the second-half but again they failed to kill off a determined Accies, who clawed their way back into the contest through a Ruaridh Bonner penalty. But Smith slotted his second penalty and Currie booked their place in the quarter-final draw.
