Curling: Stevenson’s rocket for Col

Paul STEVENSON got the better of fellow Murrayfield curler Colin Campbell at the inaugural Stirling Invitational but both ultimately missed out on the quarter-finals.

Stevenson won their head-to-head 6-3 to end the challenge of Campbell’s team, which also featured Edinburgh student Colin Howden as a late replacement for Scott MacLeod.

Campbell and company bounced back to defeat Perth’s Kyle Smith 5-1 in a meaningless final match, but Stevenson lost 6-1 to Norwegian skip Steffen Mellemsetter to crash out. Both Capital curlers finished Group C with two wins out of five.
