Curling: Dodds and Co frozen out

EDINBURGH’S Jennifer Dodds and her Scotland team-mates hit a bump in the road as they bid for glory at the World Junior Curling Championships in Sochi, Russia.

The defending champions, skipped by Lockerbie’s Hannah Fleming, have already qualified for the medal play-offs and made it eight wins out of eight by beating Switzerland 7-2. Fleming led 3-0 and went further ahead with a triple at the fifth end before Swiss skip Michelle Gribi quit with three ends left.

This morning, however, the Scots came unstuck against Japan, losing 8-6
to Sayaka Yoshimura’s
rink in their final group match.

The match was a possible dress rehearsal for Sunday’s final where Scotland will hope to gain their revenge.
