Curling: Capital’s curlers on target

Edinburgh curlers Ross Hepburn and Colin Campbell are bang on target for next month’s Scottish Championship Finals after both went unbeaten at the qualifying tournament in Perth

Hepburn played ‘lead’ for Perth’s Warwick Smith and enjoyed three wins out of three in Section B with more matches to come next weekend. Greenacres skip Neil Joss and double world champion Ewan MacDonald suffered single-stone defeats to Hepburn and Smith, but Quentin Russell was thrashed 11-2. Campbell was part of David Edwards’ 3-0 winning Aberdeen rink in Group A. Murrayfield’s John Hamilton scored two wins out of three in Group A and junior Bruce Mouat could qualify despite two losses, but Graeme Prentice looks doomed after three defeats.
