Curling: Big names gather for Glynhill Ladies

A STAR-studded field, featuring teams led by the current Olympic, world and European champion skips, has come together for the Glynhill Ladies international curling event, which gets underway today at Braehead Arena.

Since it was established a decade ago, the Glynhill has grown to become not just the top open female curling competition in Scotland, but one of the international highlights too.

As well as the Scots contingent, teams from 11 different nations will be taking part, among them teams led by reigning Olympic champion Annette Norberg from Sweden, current world champion Miriam Ott from Switzerland, and recently crowned European champion Anna Sidorova of Russia.

Two former world champions – Bingyu Wang from China and Scotland’s own Jackie Lockhart from Stonehaven are also competing. Round-robin play starts today.
