Curling: Barr raised for Capital curler

Murrayfield’s Kerry Barr was preparing to test herself against some of the biggest names in curling as the Glynhill International got underway at Braehead Arena today.

The tournament’s strongest-ever line-up includes Sweden’s double Olympic gold medallist Anette Norberg, Switzerland’s Mirjam Ott and Scots pair Jackie Lockhart and Eve Muirhead. Barr was drawn in Section A with Ott and Russia’s Anna Sidorova and starts against German skip Daniela Driendl. Edinburgh’s Annie Laird is part of Lockhart’s team which begins its Group B campaign against Denmark’s Angelina Jensen.

Meanwhile, Capital curlers Ross Hepburn, Colin Campbell, John Hamilton and Bruce Mouat are all chasing places in next month’s Scottish Championship Finals as the qualifiers continue in Perth today.
