Cult hero: Uwe Rosler

THIS German endeared himself to the blue half of Manchester in the mid 1990s after impressing as a trialist.

He was sent off in the first game of the 1994-95 season but went on to score 22 league and cup goals that term, including four in a FA Cup tie against Notts County. He commitment and desire outshone his somewhat blunt ability and made him a fans' favourite.

He fell out with manager Alan Ball in 1995-96 but decided to stay on in Manchester despite the club's relegation from the Premier League that season.
