Cult hero: Roy Essandoh

MOVE over Ronnie Radford; one of the greatest FA Cup stories of recent years involved a striker who didn't make the grade with Motherwell or East Fife.

In 2001, Wycombe manager Lawrie Sanchez was desperately seeking a striker and put a 'wanted' notice on the Division Two club's website. This was picked up by Ceefax, and then by Essandoh's agent.

A couple of weeks later, Wycombe faced Premiership side Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter finals – and substitute Essandoh scored a last-minute winner. Rarely heard of since.
