Cult hero: Duncan Hodge

HE won 26 Scotland caps at fly-half but will be forever remembered for scoring all of his team's 19 points as they beat England by six points to claim the 2000 Calcutta Cup at Murrayfield.

Hodge kicked four penalties but it was the try he scored and converted six minutes from time that deprived England of a Grand Slam for a second successive year. He said of his try: "It was just a half-yard scuttle, just my range!" Born in Dumfries in 1974, Hodge went to Merchiston School and his teams included Edinburgh, Watsonians and Leeds Tykes.
