The five-month lockout that has blighted the NBA season appears to be over, it was revealed yesterday.

NBA commissioner David Stern said a “tentative understanding” has been reached, with a possibility of the season beginning on Christmas Day.

Hockey

Glynhill Hotel Kelburne continued their march towards the men’s Subway National League title with a 7-1 victory over AMN Hillhead. Edinburgh University beat VWS Dundee Wanderers and Western Wildcats beat Cala Edinburgh.

In the women’s league, Milne Craig Western were victorious over VWS Dundee Wanderers.
