Rethink for leagues

SCOTTISH cricket’s controversial new national league structure is to be scrapped after just one season.

The widely unpopular system, consisting of two 16-team divisions, is not among the options which will be put to clubs at a reconstruction vote.

Cricket Scotland’s Future Structures Group has begun a detailed consultation process ahead of a crucial meeting of all 32 SNCL clubs next month.

It is likely that clubs will be asked to choose between either a streamlined SNCL or a regional structure.

Clubs in the East and North favour a national league of two ten-team divisions while the Western District Cricket Union are pushing for a regional set-up.
