Khan injured in ODI win

Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan has been ruled out of their Bangladesh tour because of an abdominal injury.

Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman Nadeem Sarwar says Khan partially ruptured his abdominal muscle during the fifth and final one-day against Sri Lanka at Abu Dhabi yesterday.

Khan bowled just three overs before being taken for a scan that revealed he needs to rest for at least six weeks. The Bangladesh tour starts on 29 November with a Twenty20 match.

In the match, Umar Akmal guided Pakistan to a three-wicket win. They had already won the series and extended their margin of victory to 4-1.

Akmal finished on 61 not out from 60 balls after Sri Lanka had earlier stuttered to 218 for nine from their 50 overs after they won the toss and decided to bat.

Sohail Tanvir claimed four for 34 as Pakistan’s bowlers took advantage of favourable conditions early in the day to reduce Sri Lanka to 46 for four.

The Sri Lankan total never looked to be beyond Pakistan’s batsmen, who sealed victory with 16 balls to spare.
