First Division: Falkland triumph over Glenrothes

Falkland’s Stuart Campbell labelled their triumph over high-flying neighbours Glenrothes “clinical”.

A lethal bowling display by Wayne Sullivan followed by a solid knock of 70 from Jack Henderson were the main features as Glens suffered their first loss of the campaign at Scroggie Park.

The confidence of the visitors had been underlined by their decision to bat first, but when Sullivan bowled former Scotland captain Ryan Watson for 20, the momentum was with Falkland, with the visitors only able to reach 166 for seven.

An opening partnership of 108 put paid to any chance of a Glenrothes fightback and it was left to Davie Gray to smash a fast 30 to finish the contest with almost 20 overs in hand. The sides are now neck and neck at the top.

Elsewhere, Scott Galloway bagged a ton to propel Forfarshire to a 98-run success at Dundee HSFP. And West Lothian overcame Corstorphine at Boghall.

The Freuchie v Penicuik match was rained off, along with the entire Western Zone card.
