Durham edge Somerset in final over
Jonathan Trott warmed up for England duty with an unbeaten 41 as Warwickshire cruised to a nine-wicket Clydesdale Bank 40 victory over Derbyshire at Edgbaston. Trott, in his final innings before Thursday’s Lord’s Test against West Indies, shared in a 124-run second-wicket stand with William Porterfield (81 not out) as Warwickshire won the battle of the leading two sides in Group C with 15.3 overs to spare. Hide AdSussex were also big winners in Group C, beating Unicorns by 144 runs at Hove in their opening match of the tournament.
Essex suffered defeat in their Group A clash with Worcestershire in Chelmsford. Essex were limited to 190 for nine and Worcestershire knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets. Also in Group A, Gloucestershire got their second win of this season’s competition, by 164 runs over Leicestershire at Bristol.
