With England due on August 12 this year, cricket bosses have arranged for Australia to visit on Tuesday September 3, 2013.
Last season saw a visit from the Sri Lankans to Edinburgh.
The match will come at the end of the Aussies’ Ashes tour of England and they will be seeking preparation for the one-day series south of the Border which starts soon after.
Scotland last entertained Australia in 2009 when, despite a 189-run defeat, home seamer Gordon Goudie distinguished himself with a five-wicket haul including the highly-rated Michael Clarke and Mitchell Johnson.
Cricket Scotland Chief Executive, Roddy Smith, said: ”This provides an excellent focal point for our players and supporters in 2013. With Scotland globally ranked 15th for ODI cricket and 13th for T20, a huge achievement in the world’s second biggest game, this will provide yet another excellent opportunity to show our loyal supporters how our young and home-grown team is developing.”
