Cricket: Pietersen switches to Delhi for new IPL season

England batsman Kevin Pietersen has announced he has joined the Delhi Daredevils for this year’s Indian Premier League.

The South Africa-born player had been due to represent the Deccan Chargers in last year’s competition only to be sidelined with injury.

However, the Delhi franchise will hope to benefit from his skills in the Twenty20 format after taking him from the Chargers.

Pietersen said on Twitter: “Breaking News: I’ve moved from Deccan Chargers to The Delhi Daredevils.. V happy with the transfer!! Can’t wait to watch Viru [Virender Sehwag] from 22yds!!”

He added: “We got a great chance this yr in the £IPL .. Bring it on!!!”
