Cricket: Leask set to stake claim

MICHAEL Leask of Stoneywood-Dyce will get the chance to stake his Saltires claims when the Scotland Lions take on Warwickshire next week.

The young Aberdonian is one of only two uncapped players in the side for the three-day clash in Coventry. Leask impressed with a half-century on his Lions debut last September and has since made his mark at the ICC Academy in Pune where he twice posted scores of more than 80.

Greenock’s Richie Berrington captains the side and there is a place for Moneeb Iqbal, who returned for Scotland in last month’s World T20 qualifier after an 18-month absence.

Lions squad (v Warwickshire 2nd XI, 24-26 April): R Berrington (c), R Flannigan, E Chalmers, C MacLeod, P Mommsen, M Iqbal, M Haq, C Wallace w/k, M Parker, M Leask, T Buchan.
