Cricket: Watsonians in knock out cup action

Watsonians will tonight attempt to reach the first of two knock out cricket finals.

The Myresiders play host in a Murgitroyd Masterton twenty:20 semi-final to holders Carlton just hours after learning they have landed a home tie against holders Uddingston in the last four of the Scottish Cup, on Sunday, July 24.

Tonight's contest will see Watsonians seeking to move a step closer to achieving their first 'Masterton' triumph since 2003 but president Ross Brooks warns the opposition have form in this competition.

Called up for 'Sonians are twenty:20 specialists Andy Learmonth and Ally Fleming, while the key man is likely to be internationalist Ryan Flannigan, of whom Brooks says: "Ryan controlled things in a mature fashion when we beat Ayr in the Scottish Cup on Sunday."
