Cricket: Swan ruffles some feathers with 60 against Holy Cross

PETE SWAN led the way with 60 as Carlton II bounced back from last week's loss to Fauldhouse to defeat Holy Cross in East League Division One.

Batting first at Arboretum, the visitors made 183 all out on a tricky wicket, Swan being backed up by 33 from Ani Majumdar and 31 from Fraser Boyd. Andrew Millington took 3-42 for Holy Cross.

In reply, Millington dug in for 23 hard-fought runs, but spinners Omar Ahmad and Tom Clarke both took three wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 131.

Reigning champions Fauldhouse continued their good start to the campaign with a three-wicket win over Grange II.

Grange II scored 146 all-out before the West Lothian outfit reached their victory target with seven wickets down.

Watsonians II defeated Boroughmuir convincingly at Craiglockhart. The hosts shared the wickets around as 'Muir were bowled out for 88, Zan Sevak taking 3-22.

Keith Flannigan top scored with 28 as Watsonians II chased down the small total to win by five wickets.

Edinburgh II were defeated by Glenrothes. Batting first, Edinburgh II could only make 146 all out and the Fifers battled hard to win by three wickets.

Elsewhere in the East Leagues on Saturday, Teuchters, who had scored 405 runs in their previous match, were involved in a low-scoring affair this time around. They still chalked up another win in Division Eight, though, defeating Leith FAB by seven wickets at Leith Links.
