Cricket: Marchmont out to make history in Masterton

GRANGE and Marchmont clash at Raeburn Place tonight in the second semi-final of cricket's Murgitroyd Masterton twenty:20 trophy.

The key figure for East Division Two side Marchmont could be Kiwi all-rounder Matt Loeffen, fresh from hitting 120 in a narrow league defeat by leaders Murrayfield DAFS. Batsman and club official Aaron Sardesai said: "This clash is arguably the biggest tie in our history having qualified for the Masterton through the Activcity twenty:20 event last year.

"We are approximately at full strength with my brother, David, travelling from Glasgow."

Grange skipper Sanjay Patel says: "We are very keen to get our hands on the Murgitroyd Masterton Trophy again but, especially with several players absent on representative duty, we are aware that Marchmont are a potential banana skin."

Carlton await the winners after a 67-run victory over Edinburgh in the first semi-final on Tuesday.
