Cricket: Granger causes havoc as Marchmont claim East Two title

Euan Granger took seven wickets as Marchmont clinched the East League Division Two title with a thumping eight-wicket win over Kismet.

Seamer Granger took the amazing figures of 7-6 as Kismet were bowled out for just 47 in 19 overs.

Marchmont then knocked off the runs required with the minimum of fuss in 9.3 overs, Matt Loeffen top-scoring with 20 not out as they picked up the silverware. Those runs for Loeffen took him to over 800 in the league for the summer, while his team mate Aaron Sardesai's 17 took him over 400.

They go up into the top flight with Murrayfield DAFS, Musselburgh just missing out on promotion. The East Lothian outfit paid the price for not playing their match against Kismet a few weeks ago due to them believing the pitch was dangerous, but East League officials did not believe this to be the case. On Saturday Musselburgh ended the campaign with a nine-wicket win over Freuchie II.

In the top flight Edinburgh II finished bottom after a nine-wicket defeat to Grange II with Glenrothes finishing second bottom after a 14-run loss in a low scoring match against Boroughmuir. With only one team going down it is Edinburgh II making the drop to Division Two.

Clackmannan claimed the Division Three title when Haddington defaulted their match, while in Division Eight Olly Rimmer took 5-18 for Musselburgh III in a win over Kirk Brae including three wickets in one maiden over.
