Cricket: Century men keep their sides in race

ZAHID ALI and Ally Fleming led the way with centuries for their respective sides as the East League Division One title race heated up on Saturday.

Ali smashed 128 for Fauldhouse against Largo, while Fleming had to be patient to carry his bat for 111 not out as Watsonians II stayed top.

Fauldhouse made 251 all out with Darren Mulligan chipping in with 40. Largo were then bowled out for 128 with Scott Cochrane and Daniel Law both in the wickets.

At Craiglockhart, Watsonians II posted 226-2, Fleming's runs being backed up by 61 not out by Richard Crosby in the top of the table clash with Carlton II.

In reply Carlton II were bowled out for 197 to lose by 29 runs with 15-year-old Chris Cash taking 3-41 as 'Sonians II recorded their eighth win in a row.

Edinburgh Accies defeated Holy Cross by one-run at Newfield. Accies made 253-6 with Mick Raso getting 76 and Stuart Cosh 53 before Euan Smith scored 82 for the visitors. Holy Cross needed nine off the last over, but finished on 252-7.

Carlton III scored a mammoth 441-5 against Leith FAB II in Division Five – the highest local score of the season so far – and won by 314 runs
