Cricket: Carlton turn attention to twenty:20

Carlton cricket skipper Fraser Watts insists that league form will count for nothing when his side bid to regain the Murgitroyd Masterton twenty:20 trophy against rivals Grange at Grange Loan tonight (6.15pm).

In announcing a virtual full-strength side, apart from fast bowler Ally Evans who is on representative duty with the Scotland A side, Watts said: "We surrendered the trophy to RH Corstorphine last year and it hurt to lose.

"We might not have got the results we wanted in two league matches against Grange so far, but twenty:20 is different and they're our big rivals.

"It is about who turns up on the day and it might only take one batsman to make a real difference to the outcome."

However, Grange all-rounder Iain Worth, who is fresh from a career-best 179 not out in a friendly with Dollar, hit back, saying: "We take encouragement from the fact that when we beat Carlton in the league both were under-strength but they still had a pretty good pace attack."
