Cricket: Cairns and Crosby double act helps Watsonians II win again

GEORGE CAIRNS and Richard Crosby shared in a 260-run partnership as Watsonians II chalked up their third East League Division One win on the spin on Saturday.

Cairns smashed 161 not out against Glenrothes in Fife, while Crosby made 159 as the Myreside men posted a daunting 383-2 batting first. Fraser Sands then took three wickets and fellow schoolboys Chris McFarlane and Euan Flannigan picked up one each on their debuts as the hosts were bowled out for 160.

Watsonians II skipper Dave Breach is now trying to find out whether the 383 scored is a club record and he said: "I want to dedicate this win to my late father-in-law whose funeral was last week. He became a big fan of the club in his latter years and I was proud that the team performed so well."
