Cricket: Allan helps down Carlton II

FAULDHOUSE skipper Derek Allan hit 70 not out as he guided his side to an away win against Carlton II.

Carlton II had started East League Division One in fine form last week at Grange II, but were not at the races as last year's champions won at Grange Loan by six wickets.

Batting first, Carlton II were in trouble early on when skipper Charles Paterson went for a duck and the hosts ended up being all out for 122.

The experienced Allan then led his side, featuring a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds making their top-flight debuts, to 123-4 as they won at a canter.
