Craigroyston entertain Hibs youngsters in better shape

Craigroyston continue with their build-up to the new season with a friendly against the Hibs Under-19 side at St Mark's Park tonight (7.00pm).

Craigroyston travelled north at the weekend to face Highland League club Keith and were beaten 4-0.

"We were down to the bare bones in terms of players available for one reason or another," said the Craigroyston manager, George Bowmaker. "Tonight, we have more players available as we aim to enhance our fitness levels ahead of the first competitive game in less than two weeks' time."

Hibs Under-19s have already defeated Selkirk 9-1 and have played four games in Norway as they get ready for their league campaign. They are coached by James McDonaugh, a former East of Scotland League player with both Whitehill Welfare and Spartans.

Edinburgh City are also in action tonight at Meggetland where they entertain SFL Third Division side East Stirlingshire. City beat Glasgow Juniors side St Anthony's 2-0 on Saturday but are missing several players tonight including Ross Guthrie, Peter Stenhouse, Ross Macnamara and Andy Howat while defender Joe Dingwall has signed by East Stirling and is in line to play against his former club tonight.

Newtongrange Star manager Alan Miller has signed striker David Beattie from Whitehill Welfare and they play hosts to Vale of Leithen at New Victoria Park (7.15). Steven Radzynski, Vale's leading goalscorer last season, is hoping to be fit for the game.

Leith Athletic, promoted into the Central Taxis Premier Division at the end of last season, have arranged a challenge match against Scottish Junior Cup finalists Musselburgh Athletic at the Civil Service Sports Ground, Marine Drive, with a 7.00pm kick-off.

Last night, Heriot-Watt University beat Edinburgh United 4-3 with goals from Micahel Connor, Sean Mushin, Brendan Napier and Chris Donnelly.
