Craig MacGillivray fails in snooker bid

Edinburgh's Craig MacGillivray was disappointed but realistic after failing to qualify for the final stages of the World Snooker Open.

McGillivray lost 3-0 to former world No.?3, James Wattana of Thailand, in Sheffield. "I am disappointed in how I played as I had chances but just didn't take them. At this level, you have to take your chances and I was punished for not doing so," said the Scot.

Scotland's Marcus Campbell, James McBain, Alan McManus and Anthony McGill were all in action today, battling for a place in the final stages at Glasgow's SECC next month.
