Corstorphine told to switch on

FRUSTRATED RH Corstorphine president Arnie Sathiy wants to see his men use their heads when they go into battle with Renfrew on home turf today.

The president admitted the past two weekends were the most disappointing of his cricketing life as he watched his side fall to successive surprise defeats by Weirs and Freuchie.

He cited a lack of common sense as the main reason for the back-to-back losses. Sathiy said: "It was soul-destroying to witness some guys play intelligently and correctly for a couple of overs – then commit suicide with a stupid shot.

"We have analysed these results to death and the problem is definitely not ability, it is reading the situation in front of us."

Sathiy also denied that the departure of skipper Kevin McLaren to Greenock and pro Preston Mommsen to Carlton had significantly weakened the squad.

"Robert More is a different type of captain, however I believe he is equally effective," he said. "The guys have trained well this week and I am looking forward to a change in fortunes.

"Having said that, Renfrew are a very strong outfit."

Pacesetters Dumfries play host to Kelburne, who have emerged as a threat following the return to action of West Indian pro David Harper.

Another surprise demise was West Lothian's at SMRH last weekend. Today, the Boghall brigade are aiming to get back on track with success against Ferguslie, who appear to have shaken off their early-season jitters.

Freuchie, fresh from their confidence-boosting win against Corstorphine, head for the capital to square up to Imans Edinburgh.

And SMRH will be bidding to carry on their good work in Glasgow, where they tackle Weirs.
