Cooke to provide a treat

Scottish League first round matches take place at Meadowbank Stadium this weekend, with the men in action tomorrow and the women competing on Sunday.

The highlight of the women’s meeting is set to be the appearance of former Scottish long jump champion Gillian Cooke (EAC) in the 100 metres, where she will be out to repeat her success at the recent Lothian clubs trials at the same venue when she beat current Scottish champion Stacey Downie.

Meadowbank will also host the East District Championships on Saturday May 12 and Sunday May 13 thanks to the industry of Edinburgh Athletic Club.

Because of a failure of the online booking system at Scottish Athletics, EAC meeting convener Bill Walker has appealed to athletes to get their entries in straight away through a link he can give them.
