Conway glad window is shut

Dundee United winger Craig Conway is enjoying his football once again now that the transfer window has closed.

The 25-year-old looked set to join Championship side Middlesbrough during the summer but Gordon Strachan's men failed to meet the Tannadice club's valuation for the Scotland internationalist.

United manager Peter Houston felt that some of Conway's performances in the earlier part of the season may have been affected by the speculation but the winger looked back to his best as he helped his side to a 3-1 victory over Aberdeen.

He said: "I would be lying if I said the speculation hadn't been annoying me as I was left wondering where I was going to be.

"I'm glad now that it has all been settled so that I can concentrate on getting my head down.

"Although we didn't have a great start to the season, I personally felt I was doing well. I am definitely glad that deadline day has passed as I don't feel stuck in the middle and I can just focus on my football instead."

United scored three times in the opening nine minutes through Jon Daly, a Mark Howard own goal and a David Goodwillie penalty as they won for the first time in the SPL this season. Scott Vernon scored for Aberdeen.
