Commonwealth Games: Allan Smith withdraws

ALLAN Smith has withdrawn from Team Scotland team and took no part in the high-jump competition.

An official statement released at lunchtime [Monday] merely said: “Team Scotland can confirm that high jumper Allan Smith has withdrawn from the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games”.

It is understood that the Birmingham-based 21-year-old did not turn up in the athletes’ village, and that no team disciplinary issues were involved in his withdrawal. His fellow-Scots David Smith and Raymond Bobrownicki both took part as planned in the high jump.
