Co-optimists set for two city clashes

RAEBURN Place will be a hive of festive activity on Tuesday when Edinburgh Accies take on the Co-optimists before the select side head to Myreside.

Accies will face the Co-Optimists in a match with a 1:30pm kick-off that will help the hosts prepare for the battle to maintain their Premier One status in the second half of the season.

With the league resuming on 14 January, coach Simon Cross is hopeful of having a number of injured players back in action and has also hinted that he may unleash some former Accies who, like him, have sampled the professional ranks.

The Co-ops will again be built around the Scotland Club International squad, and so the match will serve as a trial-cum-training session for leading club players hoping to pull on the Scotland jersey at home to France and away to Ireland in the spring.

The match also helps to raise funds for the club’s youth development in north Edinburgh and will be followed at 5pm by a resurrection of the once- popular annual auction with a host of lots.

The Co-ops have also fixed up a second fixture in the city on Thursday, 29 December, hosted by Watsonians. The Myreside match will kick-off at 7pm.
