Clinical Lasswade line up double celebration

LASSWADE have given themselves a chance of a promotion and Scottish Hydro National Shield double celebration after a clinical performance at Waysiders Drumpellier.

The 52-11 thumping of the hosts puts the Midlothian men eight points behind second-placed Glasgow Accies in National Two. Lasswade have two matches left to play in May, while Accies have already finished their league programme. And, because of Lasswade's far superior points difference, if they can see off Newton Stewart and Hawick YM, even without bonus points, on 1 and 8 May respectively then they will be promoted for the second season on the trot. Firstly of course they have the small matter of a National Shield final against Greenock Wanderers this coming Saturday.

Meanwhile, Preston Lodge are on the way down to National Three despite battling to defeat Newton Stewart 20-15. The men from East Lothian have one match left, but cannot collect enough points to see them to safety after Newton Stewart gained a losing bonus point from Saturday's match.

In National One, Murrayfield Wanderers fought back after half-time before eventually losing 25-24 at Berwick on Saturday and, in the same division, Livingston were thumped 79-25 at champions Dalziel and RHC Cougars went down 22-0 to Whitecraigs.

Linlithgow are fourth though with two matches left after a 36-25 away win at Langholm. Forrester, already safe in National Three, lost 33-15 away at GHK.
