Chris Sutton likens Rangers to a circus in scathing attack

Chris Sutton has branded Rangers a '˜circus' after their pursuit of Derek McInnes ended with the former Ibrox midfielder staying at Aberdeen.

Speaking on BT Sport Sutton took aim at the Gers, likening Dave King to Basil Fawlty and comparing the Ibrox board to a Monty Python film.

The former Celtic striker said he would be ‘furious’ if he was a Rangers supporter, adding: “It’s a great club, a great institution [and] the board have made a mess of it. They are leaderless.

“It’s like the People’s Front of Judea - no one can make a decision. Meetings about meetings... get on with it and get a manager in.”

Sutton expressed his belief that events in the lead-up to the Aberdeen boss electing to remain at Pittodrie spoke volumes.

“I think it tells you the state of where Rangers are, and how Derek McInnes sees it. It’s a circus, it really is,” said Sutton.

“[Dave King] didn’t even meet Pedro Caixinha before he got the job. He was the equivalent of Basil Fawlty.

“And the statement the other night - that was an embarrassment. It was childish.

“There has been a lack of leadership [at Rangers]. It is rudderless - it’s pin the tail on the donkey stuff.”
