Chris Doak on a roll with second win in a week

Chris Doak put the lid on a glory-laden few days as he claimed his second play-off win in a row on the Tartan Tour in the £10,000 Sprint Series Final over the Duke's course in St Andrews.

The Greenock pro, who won the Gleneagles Scottish PGA championship at the fourth extra hole on Sunday, beat Stephen Gray at the first play-off hole last night after both players had tied on two-under 140s.

Doak closed with a level-par 71 and was joined at the head of the standings by Hayston pro Gray, who signed off with a 70. The leading duo then went back to the first tee for the sudden-death shoot-out and it was Doak who came out on top as he plundered the 2000 prize. Despite sending his approach into a bunker, Doak splashed out to within seven feet and holed the putt for a winning birdie-four.

Doak, 32, took his earnings for the week to more than 10,000 while Gray, who took home the runners-up prize of 1500, was left with the honour of finishing at the top of the domestic circuit's money-list. Ladybank's Alan Lockhart fired a tournament-best four-under 67 for a one-over 143 to share third with Paul McKechnie of Braid Hills.
