Charline Joiner claims track silver

CITY OF EDINBURGH
rider Charline Joiner doubled her silver medal tally at the
British Track Cycling Championships in Manchester when she finished runner-up in last night’s 30 kilometre points race.

The 24-year-old Fifer, who had taken second spot in Thursday’s individual pursuit event, started strongly, winning two of the first three sprints. However, the English rider Corinne Hall produced a solid effort in the middle of the race to establish a lead.

And, although Joiner managed to reduce the leeway in the closing stages, she was unable to overhaul her English rival. However, the result again underlines the progress she has made since switching her focus from sprinting to endurance racing.
