Changing room chat: Wedding bells toll for title decider

SHINTY’S potential title decider has been put on hold for a week so Kyles captain Duncan Kerr can get married.

Newtonmore and Kyles are set to face off in a do-or-die clash which will see the victor crowned 2011 Premier League champions. However, the big occasion will not go ahead this week because Kyles’ skipper Kerr has another big match of his own in Tighnabruaich.

Kerr arranged his nuptials for this weekend believing the season would be over and the Tighnabruaich club have requested a re-scheduling of the decider. The ruling Camanachd Association have granted permission for the match to be delayed a week as no one could have predicted the season to run so long.

Newtonmore have accepted the decision and the clash will now take place on 19 November.

Kyles keeper Kenny MacDonald said: “This has been arranged for some time and a lot of the guys are going to be at the wedding. I don’t think anyone could have held us to playing this weekend when the season was meant to have finished a number of weeks ago.”
