Changing room chat: Taking 1,576 steps to success

AS FAR as extreme sports go, this is up there with the best of them - literally. Thomas Dold, of Stuttgart, Germany, has won the Empire State Building Run-Up for the sixth straight year.

Dold dashed up 86 flights of stairs on Tuesday in ten minutes, ten seconds, beating last year's winning time by six seconds. The New York Road Runners club says Alice McNamara of Melbourne, Australia, has won the women's division. Her time was 13 minutes, 3 seconds. The race features 1,576 steps, from the lobby to the outdoor observation deck.
