Changing room chat: Posh brewery's ale hails Mackail

SCOTLAND striker Craig Mackail-Smith has said "cheers" to a brewery after having a beer named after him following his promotion exploits with Peterborough United.

The 27-year-old was the toast of the Posh fans this season after taking his season's tally to an incredible 35 with three goals during the play-off wins over MK Dons and Huddersfield Town. Helping take United into the Championship capped a memorable campaign for the former Dagenham and Redbridge marksman, who made his Scotland debut in the 2-0 defeat to Brazil in March and is now in line for a big-money move to the Premiership.

Micro-brewers Castor Ales, based near Peterborough, have recognised Mackail-Smith's contribution to the London Road outfit's success by specially creating a new drink as a "fitting tribute"- and naming it the "Craig Mack Ale".

The ale - fittingly a blond beer - is on sale in pubs locally and the player has vowed to sample it when he returns from holiday. He said: "It's obviously fantastic and a great honour for someone to do that. When I'm back in the country I'll pop in and have a pint."
