Centurion Hanagan has tons of fun at Ayr

PAUL Hanagan's sensational season shows no signs of ending after he secured and passed the 100-winner mark with a treble at Ayr.

The title-chasing jockey managed just a solitary winner in ten rides over the weekend but was back in the groove on the west coast as he further stretched his lead at the top of the jockeys' table. Hanagan reached his century on Goldenveil, who turned in an impressive display in the EBF Maiden Stakes for his retained trainer Richard Fahey.

Sent off the even-money favourite on the back of a debut third, the filly had little trouble in getting off the mark as she swept seven lengths clear of Spring Bouquet, allowing Hanagan to punch the air as they passed the post. Reflecting on reaching the milestone, Hanagan said: "Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I'd ride 100 winners at this time of the year. I don't really get carried away very often, but I was chuffed and delighted with that. I'm delighted to do it here as Ayr is a place I've done well at over the years."

The rider's 101st victory soon followed as Hanagan guided Jim Goldie's 4-1 chance Glenluji to an equally emphatic win in Division One of the El Toro Grande Dos Handicap. The hat-trick was swiftly completed as 5-2 favourite Silent Lucidity secured a narrow verdict over Forrest Flyer.

One punter went very close to winning the new totesuper7 at Ayr but Loss Leader's failure to land the victorchandler.com Handicap means there is a rollover of 114,506 carried over to today's bet.
