Celtic out to 'put things right'

WINGER Paddy McCourt insists Celtic are desperate to "put things right" next term after finishing the campaign empty-handed.

The Hoops were forced to look on as rivals Rangers triumphed comfortably in the Premier League title race, and the season was made more miserable when Celtic crashed out of the Scottish Cup to Ross County. The defeat to the First Division club proved to be the only blip on interim manager Neil Lennon's CV as he guided Celtic to eight wins out of eight in the SPL after taking over from Tony Mowbray.

McCourt may not have been involved in those games but he is as eager as everyone else to come back stronger next season. "Personally, I never played the last eight league games, which was a bit disappointing," he said. "But the team is more important and they were winning games so that's the most important thing and that's all that matters.

"I think everyone is just looking forward to getting a break. We know this year wasn't good enough and are looking to recharge our batteries, come back next season and hopefully put things right."

Meanwhile, Sol Campbell has refused to rule out a move to Celtic. "Celtic are a massive club, a great club, with massive support," said the veteran Arsenal defender.
