Celtic hand teenager James Keatings pro contract

Teenager James Keatings has vowed to secure first-team football at Celtic Park after signing a three-year contract.

Keatings scored 25 goals for the Under-19 side last season before suffering a cruciate ligament injury in April.

However, the 19-year-old had done enough to earn a professional contract and is determined to make the most of it when he recovers from injury.

Keatings told Celtic's website: "It's a great boost for me confidence-wise. It's brilliant to know that I have another three years playing with Celtic.

"Obviously I am going to be out for a wee while but, hopefully, I'll come back stronger, faster and fitter and get back in the scene playing football, and hopefully playing first-team football.

"Hopefully I can achieve first-team football here and earn another contract that will keep me here longer. I just want to play first-team football and show what I can do."

Meanwhile, Motherwell captain Stephen Craigan has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 34-year-old - who helped lead the Fir Park side to the Scottish Cup final, where they lost to Celtic - was offered a new deal by manager Stuart McCall after taking his club appearances beyond the 350-mark during his testimonial season.

Motherwell revealed last week that they had made contract offers to the Northern Ireland international and midfielder Steve Jennings, who is tipped to sign following his holiday.
