Castle in shape for a longer season

THE Castle Course at St Andrews, which re-opened for the season yesterday, is staying open longer this year, with play continuing until 6 November.

As part of the maintenance work carried out over the winter, areas at the back of two greens - the fourth and the 17th - have been levelled out to create more pin positions.

Euan Loudon, chief executive of St Andrews Links Trust, said: "The maintenance programme has gone well and the changes to the 4th and 17th greens are bedding in nicely."
