Cartmell fourth in Abu Dhabi

FRASER Cartmell finished fourth at the Abu Dhabi triathlon yesterday, finishing less than two minutes behind Spain's former world champion Eneko Llanos.

The Scot, moving up in distance on his debut for the Trek/K-Swiss team, led out of the 3K swim and held his own among his elite rivals on the long-distance bike and run stages.

"It was a long, flat, seriously fast and hot 200K bike ride," he said. "Considering this is the longest bike ride I have ever attempted, I was very happy to feel so good throughout."
