Canon who shot to fame

A life-size bronze bust of Canon Edward Hannan, the co-founder of Hibs, has been handed over to the club by fans from the St Paul's Branch of the Hibernian Supporters' Association who commissioned the work from local artist Lewis Dougan.

They now plan a similar sculpture of the club's first captain, Michael Whelehan. The Canon's bust, pictured above with Hibs chief executive Scott Lindsay, left, and Lewis Dougan, is being displayed in the main foyer at Easter Road. Donations towards the commission of a bust of Whelehan can be sent to the Michael Whelehan Appeal, St Paul's Branch, Hibs Supporters' Club, Sunnyside, Edinburgh, EH7 5RA or in the collection box in the plinth below that of Canon Hannan
