Canoeing: Florence busy in Barcelona

Edinburgh's David Florence begins his latest medal quest at the European Canoe Slalom Championships near Barcelona today.

The C1 Olympic silver medallist was due to link up with England's Rich Hounslow in this morning's C2 heats as they bid to reach Saturday's semi-finals at the 1992 Olympic venue at La Seu d'Urgell. Florence and Hounslow return to the water this afternoon for the heats of the team competition, and the Scot's punishing schedule continues tomorrow with qualifying for the individual and team events in the C1 class, where he once again goes head-to-head with his old rivals, Slovakia's Michal Martikan and Frenchman Tony Estanguet.
