Cammy Ferguson up for Dundee return

INFLUENTIAL stand-off Cammy Ferguson will make his first start for Dundee HSFP this afternoon since injuring ligaments in his knee last September. The 22-year-old came off the bench in last weekend's cup victory over Garnock, and did enough to convince coach Ian Rankin that he is ready to attempt a full 80 minutes today against Stewart's Melville at Mayfield.

Rankin is wary of the threat the Edinburgh side pose this afternoon.

"Stew/Mel seem to have thrown off the shackles recently and are proving to have one of the most potent backlines in the league," he said. "They have been scoring freely over their last few games and will be in good fettle after a good result against Hillhead/Jordanhill in the cup last week."

Dundee also welcome back prop Alan Brown, who is available again after making his club international debut against France last weekend.

"In the previous encounter we were completely outplayed and if we are to get anything out of this game our defence is going to have to improve," said Stewart's Melville coach Graeme Moffat.

The only other Premier One match scheduled this weekend is at Burnbrae, where West of Scotland host Melrose.
